Default Day Time Running lights

Hello, I just joined today and I happy to be here!!!

I just bought a 1996 Tahoe with 67,000 mile on the ticker and would like to know how to get the day time running light to not come on when I turn the key on. I know if you click the e-brake but I want them to be off permanently. Is there anyway to do this?

Thanks for your help!

Jason

Put in burnt out bulbs. Or just remove the drl bulbs if you dont want them.

You cant put in burnt out bulbs, nor remove them, If you do this you will have no lights at all. I have a 97 Hoe and I would like to do the same, I dont think there is a law against this, I see many cars without daylight lights. If anyone has an answer please post.

Not sure about the 96 or 97 models, but on the 98 models, there is a fuse for the DRL curcuit. Nothing else is on that fuse. Remove it and the lights don't light up.

Removing the DRL fuse on the 97 will disable the daytime lights but it will also disable the dash/guage lights, this may also apply to the 96, dont know about the 98.

If it was against the law, then GM wouldn't have a switch that allows you to turn them off.

I don't believe there is a switch...but if you click on the e/brake one notch they'll go off.

Well then, there's also a drl relay and probably a drl module in the circuit. I don't believe those have any other function.

Just curious why you are wanting to run in stealth mode. Daytime running lights are really not a bad thing.
