Dealer pronounced my 2007 LTZ DOA this afternoon. Oil pressure begins to fall after running firv5-6 minutes. They have no idea what is wrong and told me I need a new engine if I want to keep it. I have new tires, new air conditioning, new brakes and that’s what I can remember. So I need to get rid of this vehicle and sell it for parts. It’s got 150,000 miles. Who needs parts??? I’m in Dallas.

Welcome to Chevy; with all the new items consider:
1. Get a 2nd opinion from a non-dealer mechanic; maybe they can tell you more about what's actually wrong
2. Drop in a new motor if needed rather than get a new ride
BTW have you regularly serviced the transmission - that's the next big ticket item to be concerned about

Thanks. I don’t have the option right now. I have to use something for work. It’s too hard to move it around…I don’t want to pay for any more towing. Thanks for the welcome.

Of course get a second opinion.
And I'll throw up (no pun intended) that maybe you really DO have decent oil pressure and your oil pressure sender is bad. I just replaced one on our Yukon a few weeks ago, part was $40 at O'Reilly. Yes, it's tough to reach behind to access that sender, but it can be done, and there are plenty of videos on YouTube.

I discussed that option at length with the mechanics. They said the dash gauge would respond differently than it was behaving. I’m not a car guy so I’m not going to be doing anything on my own. Thank you for your response. Now I have to figure out how to get rid of this beast.

Get a 2nd opinion it doesn’t hurt unless you are tired of the rig and just want a reason to get something new.
Does the engine feel strong and no crazy weird noises? If not u may need an o ring at the pump or new pump at any Indy mechanic u may get a new pump and o ring at the same time for just under $600 and they may toss in the oil sending unit to lock in your loyalty.

You will spend alot more time parting it out than getting a 2nd opinion and maybe still have a good running rig for another 100k miles. My '05 made it to 250k, my '93 is at 350k and running fine.
Good luck and keep us posted!
