It will only void the warranty on any component that fails as a result of the lowering kit or its installation.

it doesn't forsay void your warranty.
however, lets say you have a shock or a balljoint that goes bad and the dealer can link the fault of the failure to the lowering of the vehicle than yes the dealer does not have to replace the item under the warranty. We been modding our vehicles forever it seems and we never had any problems with theService Advisorsat our dealerships. This is why its always good to establish a good relationship with yourdealer
Point in case we bought a 6" lifted regency 06 super duty with 35" tiresbrand newlast year for the shop truckand purchased an extended warranty. The transmission had issues at 4000 miles and we took it in and never had any problems.
Some dealers are quick to scream "you voided your warranty" but the fact is that the dealer has to prove that the aftermarket item caused the failure before they can opt to void the claim on a warranty.
I'm sure ZX can give some insight on this matter....... Damn he beat me too it

GM has guidelines regarding warranty claims; most dealerships bend the rules, some more than others and some a lot more then others.
The Regional GM Service Managers know which dealerships to keep their eyes on and which ones are run well and generally follow the rules, the stores that are properly run are normally provided the greatest latitude to either repair a vehicle that is out of warranty or cover a repair that could be the result of a modification, abuse or neglect in order to retain customers.
Many repairs that are the result of mod’s can be covered and GM would be non-the-wiser, dealerships know this and some take advantage of it while others choose not to risk the chargeback which costs the store money and jeopardizes their standing with GM.

Dealerships are run by people and in the end there is always going to be variables in the way they operate and what kind of service they provide.

A 6" lift kit and 35" wheels and tires will not void the warranty on the transmission as far as GM is concerned.
