hmm, well, if you google a bit, what cars running in cold countries than u have to know, that diesel is the option. They use additives in diesel fuel and not just that. All i know , that they able to make real fire under the gas tank to melt a diesel 
Also, keep in mind , that 60% cars in EU are diesels and they run perfect no mater of temperature. Here is a small 1.9 TDi Jetta - about -25F

Will stay with my reliable gas engines also in the future. Thank god I never bought such diesel truck -

Looks like too many of those duramax are out of order, with trucks going into "limp mode" out of the blue.
A nightmare for GM (and us customers, too). After so many years it's about time they get their act together ...

Thanks, Ozlander - that's interesting information. And another cause why there's no duramax in hoe and burb.
Just wonder why GM's working with different frame widths on our big ones. Oughta be expensive ...

The newer diesels don’t really have problems with the cold. I am up in the U.P. a lot and have had zero problems -35% Many people in Canada and Alaska use the duramax at much colder temps with no problems. The newer diesels, including the duramax trucks are amazing. The things they can do is great. For towing with a light truck the duramax will blow a gas truck away, including a SC big block. Diesels trucks have so much TQ for pulling, they get the job done. There was a company out there they put a dmax in suburban’s and hoes. They did a great job putting them in. I think they where out of Florida.
That company was/is called Duraburb. They had an Escalade with a Duramax for sale on Ebay a while back. They even had video links. It looked like they did really good work. Even all the guages worked like they should...

These are modern days and today's Diesel engines are different. My Dodge Ram sat last week, for 2 days & nights in -17 degree weather (-34 deg wind chill) and it started right up on the 3rd day and no black smoke. Granted Colorado is not Minnesota, however cold is cold.
