Default Extended warranties from aftermarket suppliers... Advice..

I just bought a used 2007 Tahoe LTZwith 32,000 miles on it and wanted to get some kind of wrap warranty beyond the drive train warranty that will be the only thing left soon enough. Any advice, experience, etc.?

I bought one for 2000 Tahoe LTbut never really got any use out of it so don't know whether it was a good plan or not.

Thanks,

Gary

Welcome to TF. I got mine from the dealer and tailored it for time rather than miles. You can negotiate the price. Be careful if you go with an aftermarket policy as a lot of them are out of business when you need to make a claim.

I bought mine from an individual this time who was the original owner so I never got a chance to hear a dealers spew on it. Reading everywhere I could on the web I heard how much I'd save by not going to the dealer but one site would recommend one group of sellers while another site would bury the first sites recommendations making me think that the people behind the reviews the sites were using were actually being skewed by whoever the site was actually there for.

Looked at GM's extended warranty site and it was competitive but had this disclaimer about commercial use and both my Tahoes were deductions that I like leaving decals on the rear windowsfor my businesses. Not sure just how commercial that would be considered. I'd hate to find out the hard way. Maybe the GM Warranty guy I saw post here will see that and give me an answer...

I'd love to know some of the brand names of goodaftermarket warranty companies people have had good luck with around here. Dealer sold or otherwise.

Thanks... Gary

My bank offered one that covered more than GMs and it was cheaper.

ON this note no one offers a warranty that covers MORE then a GMPP plan.....you can still buy GMPP thru a dealer on your tahoe as it is still covered under a factory warranty, I worked ata VERY reputible used car dealer before and the extended warrantythey offered was crap, anddid not cover anything, AS WELL, most aftermarket, suppliers require you to keep a log book of some kind and track every oil change milage, blah blah, GMPP you dont..

you Tahoe has a 5 year powertrain warranty from GM that goes with it and a 3 year BtoB, so your pretty good off with just that......if you never use it count your blessings, but god forbid, **** these days is not CHEAP,

Wear and tear is covered on my plan, including shocks, brake pads/shoes, clutch disks/pressure plates, and spark plugs. The GM warranty does not cover those. The factory warranty does not cover some of them past the first year.

Either way, all the warranties are EXPENSIVE!!!

you hav the only plan in the world that cover brake pads, and spark plugs....GM BtoB covers brakes pads up to 25,000km and rotors from warpage, I would read the fine print, Im sure there is milage specification, or it only covers for manufactures defect, which is same as GMPP.. maybe I mwrong but I have yet to see in all my years of selling.financing, ANY plan cover Brakes and spark plugs....

I did read it back to front. The only things not covered are stereo related components and for some reason seat heaters. Everything else is covered. When the bank was telling me about it I went into the "its too good to be true mode." I asked them to show me a contract. I read it, and I was impressed. The GM warranty sponsor for this site wanted $2200 for a 7yr 80,000 warranty. The dealer I purchased the truck from was even higher than that!! I paid $1575, and that included a 100% refund clause if the truck is totaled.

I've gotten a quote from a sponsor on this site on the GM extended warranty as well as my local dealer who can sell them also. The local dealer had the best price for the GM warranty. I didn't even think about the totaled out clause though but I'll try not to think about it. You haven't given the name of the warranty company that you've been bragging about and I'd love to get their quote although I'm leaning heavily toward the dealer that I bought my last Tahoe from.

I don't expect them to lose money so that's probably why we get along. They explained why they were having trouble finding the used Tahoe with the lumbars and heated seatsI was looking for when I stumbled on this one and have been just fine about it. Seems there's a mountain of Tahoes and Suburbans with leather seats and no lumbar or heat out there. Hard to believe at the price these cars go for. And I'm talking about LT's.

Thanks again for all the replies. Sure makes thinking about all of this easier with some input...
