Default Failure to replug Transfer Case

I took my 97 Tahoe to get an oil change at Val#$#@% , and it seems that I am missing a plug from the underside of my vehicle. I am not mechanicaly inclined, so I assume that is what I am missing. I drove only 2 miles and it's been sitting in my garage for a week, with a huge puddle underneath it. I crawled under the front checked the oil plug, which is there, but I have a hole where I assume the front transfer case plug should be, almost directly behind the oil pan. Did I damage the veficle by driving it? What should I do? Is it the transfer case? Thanks for all the help.

Welcome to the Tahoe forum. Not familiar with the '97 but is the plug on the bottom of the case or on the side?

The tranny is between the engine and the transfer case. If the plug is on the side, then you are probably OK but need to check the level. If on the bottom of whatever it is, then you might be in trouble but I'd replace the plug, fill it with proper lube, and see if everything is OK or not.

Cover your butt, call the oil change place, tell them you are towing it to their facility on their dime, and they are fixing it for free. Get documentation of the repair in case a problem comes up.

DAMN RIGHT and make sure they take care of everything and they should give you some free oil changes for awhile if not have your lawyer call first that will set them straight

Thanks for the advise guys... The plug is on the bottom, and there is not a drop of fluid left in there.

I called them yesterday and still waitng for a mangager to call me back. Hopefully I can get this resolved, without damage to my truck. I really don't want them to touch anything on the truck.

GO MIZZOU- in St. Louis so very happy with last years Football run, can't wait for this year!

Thanks again.

Get it towed to the dealer if you don't want them touching it. Have the dealer fix it, and give it a once over to make sure no damage was done. Then bring the bill to the jffy lube.
