First Oil Change: Lessons Learned
Folks,
I have 988 miles on my 07 LS. This truck has not exceeded 2,100 rpm or 55 mph in its life. This truck has not been driven on constant speed more than a minute and never braked hard. I am going to change oil tomorrow with a regular non-detergant Pennzoil 5W30 at 1,000 miles. Will do 2 more oil changes on 3K and 6,500 miles. Then at 10K miles engine will be washed and go synthetic.
I believe synthetic is too good to start breaking in the engine with. The components need to sit properly while using the regular oil. Thanks.

I don't either. I have a set time frame of 1500 miles in our Alaska winter 2000 or so in the summer, I have never gone more than 2000 miles on an oil change on any vehicle I plan to take care of for a long time, with a "throwaway society" I can see why you can put off longer. Besides its better advertising to put off that oil change for a longer time right? Better for the environment and everything, yeah right.
