Default First scratch and ding on Tahoe

No pics yet, but tonight driving home a car in front of me hit a 2X4 in the middle of the road. The 2X4 flew up in the air and hit square on the front of the Tahoe. The 2X4 busted in half and flew over my Tahoe into the front of another car. Not much I could do about it at the time.
I waited until I got home to check it and sure enough a new scratch with an indent in the front bumper. Luckly it only did small damage to the front bumper.

Now the funny thing. On Friday I ordered a new Street Scene front bumper and was trying to figure out how to tell the wife why I needed it. Well my wife was with me tonight when this happened, so as soon as we saw the damage I said "Damnit I will probably have to replace that whole front bumper cover to fix that damage" she said "oh honey I feel so bad for you"

Get the Insurance Co to buy the new bumper and get the body shop to install the avalanche bumper. My brothers wife just ran into a pole in a parking lot with his Yukon putting only a small dent right in the center below the grill and I think he told me the bumper cover was like $3000. I am sure you could get 2000 on flea bay and have the Ins co pay for the install. Can't wait to hear how you make out. Good luck

Thats funny!!! If you were planning on doing the switch anyways I would leave the insurance out of it. Most insurance will raise your rates after you make claims. I know they shouldn't do that but they do.

I would just be glad that it hit the bumper and didn't do through the windshield... Been there, seen that!!!

Everybody's Ins is different, I guess, but my comprehensive claim didn't raise my ins rate. I hit a deer and the comp. deductible was $0 and didn't effect my rates. At least check.

Hitting an animal (deer), that is your comprehensive coverage. The board would be collision and it would cause the ins to increase.

Let the insurance know you hit a flying object. It should then be counted on your comprehensive insurance. If you hit an object on the ground, it would be collision.

That is the way it was explained to me anyways when I hit a tire. It was thrown up from the car in front of me.

Good luck,
Sam
