Default fuel injector voltage ?

I'm going to try and clean my injectors on my 08 tahoe and was wondering if the voltage that the injector uses is 12v. Couldn't find anything on the internet and my haynes manual doesn't say. thx for the replies.

should be full battery voltage. check with a voltmeter. pull the relay or fuse to the full pump or fcm. key on and check the voltage on the injector wire. voltage should be there at all times with the key in run.

How do you plan to clean them?

i plan on removing them and using brake cleaner or other type of cleaner. Use jumper wires to actuate them with a 12v battery on and off. May even go to the junk yard and find a connector. Not to sure yet. Just want to be sure that they use 12v. Read that some fuel injectors use less voltage.

gm injectors are pretty bulletproof. Rarely have I seen any problems. What makes you think they need cleaning?

have you ever considered and injection cleaning canister? You can buy one for the price of a shops injector cleaning service. I believe that would be better than anything you can do at home. It would take 15minutes and you would not have to remove the intake and fuel rail.

FYI, take note of your injector pulse rate before and after the cleaning. then you can verify any improvement.

I think shops that do this use ultrasonic baths.

x2 removing the injectors just to clean them is more work than you need to do, unless you're replacing them I'd just run a cleaning or even a fuel treatment'cleaner.

Tech 2 I have a P0307 code that has just popped up about 3 weeks ago I cleared it and it popped up again about 4 days ago. I have checked the plugs and wires(their good) normal wear. Have good spark, checked for any leaks at the intake manifold nothing noted, checked the injectors with a stethoscope and all were activating also checked resistance. I haven't checked for compression yet don't have a test kit. thinking I'm fine their though.
I have already tried a fuel injector treatment after I cleared the code the first time. I just swapped the coils on the #5 and #7 yesterday and cleared the code gonna just verfiy that its not the coils.
I was going to do a tune up on it in about another week or 2 changing fluids, wires and plugs, both valve covers are leaking a little bit so was going to change the gaskets, and figured since Ill be in the area I would go ahead clean the injectors. I dont think the scan tool i have can check for pulse width on the injectors. sorry such a long post.

so the misfire is intermittent?

If its there all the time; cylinder 7 is afm cylinder. I would do the compression check of cylinder 7. if you have no compression, the afm lifter may have collapsed. remove the valve cover and watch for rocker arm movement when cranking over

I guess you can say its intermittent. It first popped up about 3 weeks ago and after i cleared it didn't come back until about 4 days ago. I won't be able to do a compression check until this weekend will have to rent one or buy one. i hope its not compression or the lifter. been doing some research and found that those lifters have caused some people problems. thx.

collapsed lifter would misfire all the time.

swap a coil, plug and wire with a known good cylinder and see if the misfire follows to the swapped cylinder.

I've swapped the #5 coil with the #7 did that a couple of days ago and no code yet. If it pops up on #7 again I'll do the tune up a little earlier than I planed to.
