200k it better be cheap. good thing is those motors are pretty solid, and easily replaceable if needed.

I've got a '98 with over 200,000 miles. Check to see if the intake manifold gasket was changed. Mine has a leak in it ("cured" with some bars leaks). See if any fuses are missing (if so, then ask why).

Get a good price
I just bought a 98 suburban with 211000 on it for $1500. i wouldnt pay any more than that. Just budget for the worse (engine, tranny, trans case.....). I ahve put about $400 into it with wear items like u-joint, ball joints, two tires, fluids, rear axle bearing....... I know i did well since they are selling for about 3-5k with around 200k miles. Check the trans fluid by wiping the dip stick on a white rag and see what color it is. red is good, dark brown means plan on putting about $2000 into it. Get a CARFAX and see what service records have been recorded. Just dont pay to much and have something major go wrong.

I would not buy a suburban again unless it had the LS engine (5.3).
After now having worked on both SBC (5.7) and LS (5.3) engines, in my opinion the LS is superior in every way and significantly easier to wrench on.

seriously 5k is an awful lot for something with that kind of miles.
