GM Nav 6.0c - 20940248
Got my GM 6.0c Navigation disc in the mail today $170... thank you ebay.
In the manual it says it will update the firmware (it does) it's a new spiffy blue vs the red/green of before... I will drive with it tomarrow, but not most of the weekend.
I took pics of the firmware upgrade and the new maps, I will post Friday by 2pm EST for everyone wanting to check out this new map data... and more importantly firmware.
I wish GM would say which ones update the firmware, then you know which DVDs are more important...

Well, first thing I noticed was the new colors.
Next thing, turn on time. The head unit now turns on INSTANTLY... no more 10-20 second warm up when you see the chevy symbol... it just turns ON right away... which kind of makes me nervous about battery life... but good thing I have a yellow top in there now...
Intrestingly... voice commands for destinations, the thing that GM could not solve on my truck in a year... now work with the firmware that's on the 6.0c DVD. I tried it a dozen times, shutting the headunit off between tries, each time nailed it first time. I only have 1 voice destination since it never worked before, but I will add more now... it only took GM cutting me a $940 check and TWO YEARS to fix the issue, but hey, it works now...
Searching (typing) in city names seems faster than it was before.
Still can't type on the move. Still does not say street names. Still does not allow you to enter street addresses by voice. Still can't get 'rid' of the traffic tab even if you don't want it on the main screen. Still shows miles as mi and time as min, making glancing at it and getting how long / how far impossible. So you have to stare at it long enough to crash into the car infront of you.
But, overall a good upgrade. Anyone who is thinking about the 6.0c upgrade... DO IT.
saw one for $150 now on ebay from FL.

Yes
I would assume it would update the firmware of any unit you put the DVD in, however I do not know what would happen if you took out the 6.0c DVD and put the 5.0c back in. I have both versions, however am not really intrested enough to find out. (sorry). I guess I should also ebay my 4.0c DVD for $20 or whatever from '09... I think it's in my attic... not like I really need it... maybe it will be an upgrade for someone...
I assume it would work fine, other than you'd still have the 5.0c maps.
What we (the GM community) needs is a site like this: http://mofv.com/mygig/
If I had a my-gig, you just download the update!
