Default HELP-03 Sub Oil Gauge "Weirdness"

Bought this Sub in June w/ 42500 miles on it now have 45500 miles. Had oil changed at Walmart about a month or less ago. Today I noticed my oil gauge was OVER 80 while driving in town and way over on the freeway. I called my husband who told me to check the oil. I checked it after it was off and parked for about 30 minutes. It was MAYBE 1/8" ove the criss-cross area by the first dot on the stick. I started it up and let it run for a few minutes and then checked it. It was almost the same dipstick readingmaybe 1/16" less. The oil looks good and gold honey colored. When I started it up parked, the oil gauge went up to 80 right away and when i gave it a little gas, it went over. You could see it on the gauge when i gave it gas-it would go up and then back down to 80. But today on the freeway it was like 1/2" past 80.[]
It is not acting strange at all other than that. Do I have too much oil in it, a gauge problem or some other kind of problem? I never noticed it running high before!
HELP!

a lot depend's on what weight oil they put in at wally world !a little bit over full wont hurt ,just check it on level ground 80 psi is not bad ,but i dont know what oil you had in it before .it's best to get it done at the same place each time so you have a history to fall back on .cheap is not always good !i run 10w30 in my 6.0 2500 4x4 5w30 is kind of light when the miles start adding up .

I would be highly suspicious of the gauge or sending unit. No GM vehicle I've seen ever went over 60 psi, much less 1/2" past 80 psi.

here again mine has about 43,315 on it and 50 psi at idle 65 at about 1900 rpm .you could have a sending unit problem,or the gauge set needs rebuilt it a problem .

Well Guys, It seems my problem is the Instrument Cluster. After doing a little more "poking around" online, I found a piece about a class-action lawsuit regarding the instrument cluster going bad. My 03 is one of the years mentioned but I have since heard 02-05 models are affected. Usually it is the speedometeryou are going 20 MPH and the speedo says 120! But oil, gas, temp, any of the gauges can go haywireeven the ODOMETER! I am hoping the Sub w/ 42000 miles on it REALLY DID have only 42000 miles on it! Haven't noticed anything with that and did a Carfax before I bought that showed no odometer funny business! It goes in Monday for a whole new instrument clustercourtesy of Chevrolet sinceI had under 70,000 miles on it. I think they said 10 years or 70,000 miles for free repair.

Make sure you read all of that last one.
I am hoping that the "new" one doesn't go bad, too!!!
