yeah I was thinking the ballast.. thats an easy fix as said above just switch ballast to the other side.. if the problem changes sides then its definetely the ballast. it happens.

in2pro - the problem did follow the ballast. When I stood in front and actually watched while hubby was cranking the Tahoe, the light would sometimes flicker and then go out. Turned switch off and back on, light would start.

What a pain-in-the-butt so early on....such is life.

Can anyone shed light (and pictures) on where they mounted their ballasts?

Welcome to the Tahoe forum. I've seen pics here before. Try searching on HIDs.

Here are some pix: http://picasaweb.google.com/gremicc/HIDs#
I don't have pix of the light output - all I can say is the mod was well worth the effort.

Had to put the passenger-side ballasts underneath the plate that the air filter sits on. The driver-side ballasts were screwed to the top of the plate that appears to be for the second battery. Mounted the grounds to the firewall and tied the relays and wires along the radiator hose.

There's not much room on the passenger side due to the air filter and I was afraid to run the ballasts too close to the radiator. That's why I ended up mounting underneath the air filter plate.

Thanks 73shark for the welcome.

And thanks mary900 for the pictures. I think I will place my ballasts under the air filter plate also. That side was the one I was worried about. Luckily for me I have the "plug-n-play" slim HID kit so I dont have to worry about relays.

My only concerns are blowing a fuse, my BIG hands not able to fit the small nooks and crannies and why they have not been shipped off when I orderd them on the 17th.

I plan on adding HID to my tail lights. Saw another guy have them as the reverse lights and fell in love. Just have to buy the tail lights now.
