Is a high oil pressure reading more likely to be the sending unit or stepper motor?

At idle the gauge shows 60psi, and with any amount of acceleration it hits 80. Obviously the readings are inaccurate and I want to fix it in case I ever need to know the real oil pressure. I thought I'd ask before throwing an unnecessary part at it if the sending unit or gauge or something else is most likely responsible.
Thanks for any help.
