Unhappy Hot button issue with lights

I have a '12 Suburban LT and a problem with the light and 4x4 buttons on the dash. When I turn the headlights on manually instead of on Auto, the 4x4 **** becomes really hot to the touch. I have to have the lights on during daylight so need to do it manually but that 4x4 **** gets so hot I fear it will start a fire. All the wiring behind the plate looks fine and is wrapped as from the factory. Anyone experienced this issue and know what might be causing it and how to fix it? The lights work and the 4x4 selection work fine, but I have no idea what could be going on with the hot button. TIA

A lot of heat comes out of my dashboard light dimmer control on my '11. Normal, been doing it since I got it 7 yrs. ago.

Thanks, let's me know it's maybe a common thing. I didn't mention but the light dimmer doesn't work at all, I'm wondering if I replace the light and dimmer switch if that would help. Power to those two is in the same wiring harness. Already replaced the 4x4 switch and that didn't do anything.

Just a follow up report, I bought a replacement headlight switch from Parts Geek and installed it and that solved the problem! It's nice with the solution is as simple as that.
