Default How to Relieve Fuel Pressure

I have an '03 Suburban. Does anyone know the correct procedure for relieving the fuel pressure? I am going to replace the fuel filter, but want the pressure released 1st. Thanks

You can push the shradder valve on the fuel rail which will only relieve the pressure but fuel will still run all over the place. You can start the truck and pull the fuel pump fuse which will run the line almost empty. In the shop we just remove the filter without doing anything first but we do not care if gas gets on the floor.

I've pulled the fuse on my Ford Escape and that approach seems to work okay.

Is this the fuel sensor in the photo (above and to the right) of the filter? Won't I accomplish the same if I disconnect that senosr? Thanks.

I can not really tell what that is in the photo but there is no sensor that you can unplug to accomplish what you want to do.
