Default ignition key cylinder removal 98 tahoe

i wanna know if im gonna have problems with the airbag deployingin the steering wheel if removed. I've heard the wheel doesn't need to be removedbut i cant see how it doesn't. can someone enlighten me???

Disconnect the possitive (+) cable from the battery and touch it to the negative (-) terminal and then leave disconnected while you are performing any work on the Tahoe to prevent airbag deployment.

The above procedure will completely drain the system of residual voltage.
