Installing HIDS on 07 Hoe, Help???
HEllo all how are you all doing? Getting ready for the Super Bowl probably.
Well I just bought a new 2007 Tahoe and it is sitting at the dealership waiting for me to get done with my duty assignment in the military over here in Germany where I am stationed.
Well what else is a guy suppose to do while he waits a month or 2 before he can see his new ride? Thats right find ways to accessorize it.
I was looking into the HID for the 2007 Tahoe, Xetronic™ Digital HID Xenon Conversion Kit H11 Bulb Type (Pair). However the problem I have is since I am not at home and do not have my Tahoe yet I dont know if this option applies to my vehicle or not "For vehicle with on-board computer warning display" for $60 you can disable on board computer warning feature".
So if anyone can tell me if this would apply to me and if I need to purchase the HID system with that option or not I would really appreciate it.
Thanks,
Donnie

Got the HID kit from JDM, $200 on eBay.
Took off the two top screws from the headlights and pulled them slightly out. I could reach in to remove the connectors, the bulbs, make the necessary connections and put in the HID bulb.
It was a bit hard to screw in the new bulbs as the tabs on the H11s were fatter than the original Philips bulbs and hard to twist in position. Other than that, no particular issues I can think off.
Installed the ballasts nearby and run the cabling through gaps in that protector shield behind the headlights. On the air filter side, I removed the air filter and installed the ballast under it, ballast holder fixed with one the screws holding the filter plate. Everything works fine so far. Easy DIY project.

Just thought I would pass on to forum readers to not order from highintensityxenon.com
I ordered from them a little over a month ago after reading about their "lifetime" warranty on bulbs and ballasts. After about three weeks of not getting any shipping notification, I called and left a message. The next day the item shipped. When I received the item, there were no instructions (at all, nothing). I was able to figure the installation out since it's pretty straightforward, but one of the two bulbs is bad.
I have tried to go on the website to inquire, but the site seems to be down or not working properly. I have emailed both email addresses I have for them, but did not receive a response. I also tried calling the same number I called before, but the voice mailbox is full (which is also a bad sign!). Furthermore, despite the main page of their site showing "lifetime warranty", the details of their return and warranty policies show 30 days.
I don't know that this company is around anymore, but it doesn't seem as though they will be for long!

You guys are installing the HIDs the hard way. There is no need to remove the headlights whatsoever. Simply pop the hood . Locate the rubber flap behind the headllight and remove the plastic screw that holds the flap in place. Once that is out simply bend the rubber flap downward and you have access to the bulbs. Very easy to do. For the passenger headlight you will have to remove the stock air box to gain access to it but it is very easy to do. It took me 30 minutes to install my HIDs. You also have to change out the fuses from the fuse box to a higher ampere. The stock ones are at 20 amp. I blew these once i installed my HIDs. Once i changed it to 30 amp, i have no problem at all anymore.
If you increase the fuse size, you should increase the wire gauge also or risk burning up your ride. Wouldn't an easier solution be to use a relay to carry the 30 amps?
