Default a little help needed

I posted in the Suburban section but got no replies hoping to get a little help here.I own a 1997 Suburban which needs the passenger side mirror replaced.My question is how do I gain access to the screws holding it on?
Any help would be appreciated?Thanks

I have the same truck. You need to remove the interior door panel to gain access.

there's a small plastic cap on the iside of the door directly across fromm outside mirror,can I remove this to get to mirror connection?

That's what you need to remove but I think it tucks in behind the door panel which is why you need to remove the whole door panel. If that cap comes off on it's own you're in good shape.

My truck is at work so I don't have it with me now. If you have to remove the door panel, you will have to unscrew the various screws, interior door latch, pop out the interior light and disconnect the bulb assembly. You also need to pop out the power window module and disconnect. Pop out the panel than you can get that little cap off to access the mirror bolts.
