Question Middle row bench or buckets?

I've found a couple of 2008 Burbs that I'm interested in. (I'm about ready to retire my '96 w/ 290K) They are both LTZ trims, but one has the bench seat in the middle and the other has the captains chairs. I would like to hear the pros and cons from folks that have either or that have had both. Thanks a bunch.

I opted for the bench as I did not want to lose a seat. And it is easy to get to the 3rd row if necessary.

Default seats

i have captains chairs 2nd row in my LTZ... and well, i don't ride in the 2nd row, but they look impressive...

if you need the seating, bench, else I'd go w/the cap't... they are more $ option, correct?

The buckets are more comfortable but I needed maximum cargo area so I have removed my 3rd row and put it in the attic. With the bench I still have capacity for 5. Otherwise I'm down to 4.

I like the pull down cup holders that the bench offers

We got the buckets so that we could leave the carseats installed and still get to the third row. If we didn't have kids in carseats, I probably would not have made the buckets a requirement.

If the bench folds the same way as the buckets, I don't see how it would make it any easier to get to the third row. But I've never seen a NBS w/ a bench.

The bench is a 60/40 split and folds twice (the back, and then the overall seat). There is a power fold option, but mine didn't come with that.
But I have a child seat in the middle, so the right side seat folds back to rear access and can use the seats on either the 2nd row bench with the kid seat in the middle, and the 2 seats in the 3rd row.
Its like the Partridge family bus.
And I put a 130# yellow lab in the rear.

If I need more cargo room, I put the Thule box(which doubles as a cooler) on the roof.

Jasondanielle posted a request for someone that would be interested in swapping his buckets for a bench seat, in the "DIY" section. I did a quick reply and asked if this is a straight swap out. (Brackets, harness, etc...) but I haven't seen any responses as of yet. Are the middle row's configured to allow this to be done?

The 2008 model that I've pretty much decided on has the bench seat, but I'm pretty sure that I would like to have buckets instead and would consider making a swap with someone. I probably couldn't swap with him since his interior is platinum and the one I'm looking at has the ebony interior otherwise I would be all over it.

Thanks

I had the choice of bench or bucket and opted for the bench for max seating, as the bench seating will accomadate 3 adults where as the 3rd row is really for kids or young adults and like UKHOOPZ said you can use the pull down cup holder to give 2 people in the 2nd row arm rest.
I have 3 kids and on trips put the girls in the 2nd row and the boy in the back 3rd row so everybody has there own space and everyone can still see the video screen.

The bench seat also has a shoulder harness seat belt for the person in the middle...as does the 3rd row
