You shouldn't have to 'look' for anything. Popping when turning, driveshaft spins but wheels don't. My only advice is try not to let any of the gear/bearing carnage hit you while removing the cover.

If a differential rebuild is not something you are willing to do yourself, save yourself the time and mess for the person/place who will be doing it.

If the rear drive shaft is spinning but the axles aren't you have a bad differential. The 9th gen differentials were an issue. Mine was rebuilt about two years ago. It's not real cheap to get it done so, shop around. But, it's worth it. It's not a job that a novice can do. It takes an experience mechanic and special tools to overhaul a diff.

yeah that's what I was planning to send it to a shop and let them do it and I'll just wanted to be sure that's what it was before I sent it because I didn't had other guys tell me that it was a whole lot of different other stuff that had nothing to do with my rear end it was all front end like ball joints and tie rods and talk about that's what was popping when I was turning and it turns out that wasn't the case my rear axle was going out all the differential case whatever you want to call it I just wanted to troubleshoot for myself but thanks for the advice and information it was truly valuable thanks to all the guys deceptive dick head up above talking about gears hitting people in the face but everybody else I appreciate your input and help
