Default Is the navigation voice-enabled?

I have an 08 Tahoe LT3 with the factory navigation, and from a few things I've read around, it seems to also use your voice to take commands. If so, how in the world do you do this? I can't seem to figure it out.

If you got it new, there should be a Nav Manual in the portfolio. If not, register at mygm.comand you can download. If you got it new and didn't get one, get the dealer to give you one.

Yeah we got it new and I remember the Nav manual but I guess I misplaced it. I'll be looking for it, I think it's in the glove box.

If you press and holdthe mute button on the steering wheel for about three seconds, the unit will beep and the mute symbol on the nav screen turns into a man speaking. say "help", and the nav unit will give you a little tutorial about the Voice comands. You can change the radio station, access onstar, chose if you want to listen to cd and go to a perticular track, xm, navigate to a stored destination, change to day/night mode, all kinds of things. Now this only works if you had your navigation installed at the factory, or if you put in the nav unit yourself, connected the two wires that go from the nav unit to the onstar module.

But after playing with for a little bit, to me, its quicker just to press the buttons on the navigation itself to do what you want to do

Thanks! I went to try it and it worked! I wondered why they only put that button there for mute.
