Default Need a 99 Tahoe engine. PLEASE HELP!

My Tahoe has been sitting in my driveway for well over a year now and I need to fix it soon. I'm almost 100% sure that the block is cracked or at least the head is warped. Anyhow I need a new engine (meaning used). I live in Silver Spring, Maryland and I have had trouble locating one that is local to me. Does anyone know a place close to me that would have a Tahoe engine that goes into a 99? Also I'm not sure which other motors from other years may be a fit without mods. Its a 4x4 by the way. Also does anyone from MD know a tech around here? I'd rather not take it to a "shop" and get raped on prices when I get the motor put in. Please help me if anyone can. Thanks.

Its the 5.7 V8. Not the diesel version. I have tried the wreckyards, but have only found 1, and that was about 6 months ago.

My shop is in Maryland about 30 min for you. www.gossgarage.com What is going on with the truck? It is VERY RARE for a 5.7 to have a head problem or a cracked engine. However intake gaskets failing is very very common.

Well I got the typical chocolate milk (oil and coolant). As far as how it happened... the Tahoe was driven way past the point after it had overheated (thats why I figured the block was cracked or the head was warped). The driver at the moment was not paying attention to the temp gauge and just kept on driving. The motor then started sputtering and then came to a dead stop. The engine would barely turn over at that point. Since then the Tahoe has just been sitting in my driveway for well over a year now. I'll check out your site and somehow try to contact you. Hopefully you can help me out here. Just to let you know I talked to Brandywine and they quoted me at 1200 for another tahoe motor and 1300 to put it in. Thats a little above my price range right now. Well maybe a little more than a little.

The link you posted seems to be a generic site. I dont see any info about a particular shop. Is that the correct link? Can you PM me a way to contact you? I would greatly appreciate it. I really need the help right now.

Welcome to the Chevrolet Forum.

Put a hyphen between goss & garage. Google is your friend.
