Default NEW DVD/NAV CLARION RADIO INSTALL

Hey Guys. Just sold my factory GM Navigation Head-Unit Radio, out of my 2007 Tahoe LTZ. Purchasing this Clarion Unit: http://www.clarion.com/us/en/product...294767357.htmlthen adding the Clarion Navigation unit as well. Also adding the XM Interface and iPod Interface. I planned the install all out and found out that Metra has the nicest installation products, such as radio brackets, plastic trim install kit, wiring interfaces, etc. They actually have a wiring kit for this unit to retain the factory Bose amp & OnStar interfaces, thats what I purchased. Peripheral Electronics also has a interface kit to retain the factory steering wheel controls as well. I will be doing the install before the weekend and will keep everyone updated. I purchased all the products from SMM Performance Parts, www.GoSMM.com too.

Quick question for some educated car stereo installers though, I want to know more about the factory OEM backup camera. What type of connection does it have? Anything that prevents me from using it with the Clarion unit, that anyone knows of? Please advise.

Also, does anyone have detailed wiring diagrams for the radio and similar harnesses, vehicle specific to the 07 Tahoe? Please advise.

Hi. Well I kinda need to know what type of connections the factory unit uses. I see a couple un-used wires on a harness, but no idea how the factory camera technically connects...

There are four wires out of the rear camera that travel to the rear camera image module under the pax front seat, you will need to bypass the module to use the camera.
The wires coming out of the camera are:
Orange Wire/Location A: 5 Volt Reference
Tan/Black Wire/Location B: Ground
Bare or Gray Wire/Location C: Shield
White Wire/Location D: Signal

Hope this helps

Dave

The "shield" is exactly that - coaxial cable (used for video) has a foil surround just under the 1st insulation layer, followed by another insulation layer, then the primary conductor. The foil is the "shield" and its purpose is to isolate the primary conductor from stray electrical signals that would cause interference. In a video installation this would manifest itself as snow, wavy lines, etc. on your screen.
