Default New GPS/Navigation head unit

Hey guys. I am looking at buying an in dash screen with GPS/Navigation/DVD capabilities just likethe one you can get stock from the dealership. Currently I have the stock head unit only, no screen, with the Bose setup. I was wondering if you guys think I should look for an aftermarket unit from somone such as Pioneer, Kenwood, etc. Or just buy the headunit that would have come in the tahoe had I asked for it equipped that way. For those of you that have the GPS/NAV system are you happy with its function and capabilities, or would you rather have an aftermarket system? Thanks for any opinions and advice you can give me. If you think I should go aftermarket, then is there one you would recommend, or a specific company? I am not familiar with these at all.

I am very happy with the factory nav unit that I installed recently. Here is a link to what I did here on the forum -- https://chevroletforum.com/m_5604/mpage_16/tm.htm

I like mine but (always a but) it's the only one I have any experience with. From other's comments on this forum, some other navis are better.

i personally like the pioneer avic-z1 or z2. there are so many options that you can add like sirius, xm, back up camera, bluetooth, ipod, steeling wheel control interface, not to mention it has a hard drive to store music on.

This is the first time in my life I have kept the factory HU and not installed an aftermarket unit. I liked the factory appearance, sound quality is good enough, and the navigation has worked when needed so far. There may be better units out there, but I like my factory Nav unit.
