Default new here with question

hi all i am new here and have a question for you all. My 99 Tahoe has a new engine installed before i got it, it also has a comp cam but i dont know what one, my problem is i cant adjust the valves they keep clicking, I have adjusted them by the book 3 times with engine off and roll push rod till snug then 3/4 turn start truck it was 10 times worse so i did it running back off until it clacks then tighten until noise stops yet still has click and everytime i restart the truck it clacks like crazy until they pump back up then click again any ideas how i can stop them from bleeding down. I should also mention the oil did not squirt much out of the pushrods, the oil is new and full, oil pressure is about 50psi thanks chris

It would help a lot if you can find out more about the engine and cam that were installed. Did they install heavy duty vave springs, do the valves have proper clearence for the cam, lifters and rockers?

there is no way to tell without tearing it down it was a repo and i cant contact the previous owner so if i have to open it up would you recommend having a new cam, lifters, rocker arms and push rods here when i do it if so what would be a good cam for everyday use with occasional towing? thanks

I would think that you would want to tear it down 1st and order after inspection.
