Newbie Qs
Group,
I've just bought a 00 K2500 4WD Suburban with 103,000 miles. This is my 2nd Burb, having owned a 93 K1500 4WD a few years ago.
I'm hoping for some advice on a few things:
- place to buy quality discount parts. Online would be great, especially if I can get away from paying CA sales tax. Right away, I need front sway bar links - would like poly bushings.
- advice on cause of gear oil inside driver's front fender. I assume the front diff is slinging it? Is this a known issue? Easy fix?
- how can I find RPO info on this truck. Years ago, Chevys used to have a placard inside the glove box (Probably dating myself with this one!)
- advice on upgraded shocks. I had Ranchos on my old SuperDuty, but have also had good luck with Bilsteins on my regular vehicles. Tirerack seems to have good pricing on the Bilsteins.
Thanks!
Cheers,
-jerry

rancho make sgreat products with a proven track record...all depends what you will use the truck for as for shocks....i run pro-comp adjustable shocks for my d-max...they are adjustable but i cannot tell the difference in the ride my truck is also 3/4 ton 4wd(heavy)....bilsteins are great shocks...i would stick with what you have tried and tested...
well as for parts alot of folks use lmctruck.com...sway bar end links are a common part( im assuming your truck isn't lifted?)the gear oil could be a broken cv axle throwing grease everywhere( it's happened to me)if the truck is ifs that might be the culpret...the old rpo code yeah it was to easy when they were in the glovebox..not sure for the rpo code im sure having the vin read will not tell of any options...

The PO installed a Class V hitch and Prodigy controller, and there is an oval blanked-off module in the ceiling where a DVD unit used to be, but that's pretty much it.
I only noticed after bringing it home the driver side sway bar link was completely missing, so I want to get those replaced right away.
The rear also seems to sit slightly lower than the front, and I just noticed it appears it has autoride, as I can see what look like to height sensors at each corner. I assume I can change the link arm legnths to change ride height, but I also think the rear suspension is pretty soft - but I haven't had any load to speak of in it yet. Any adjustments with this suspension?
An inspection of the CV joint doesn't show any grease or gear oil on it, but it does appear the oil (feels and smells like gear oil, not grease) at the back of the fender liner is being thrown from that general direction.
Thanks again!

yes that sway link is an easy fix....ive broke them off my 4x4 when there gone i got lots of rolling ...i assume the front is ifs...is there any grease around the front dif...could also be the front drive shaft....i would clean it real good then drive it to see if any leaks begin or to pin point where the grease is starting
Thanks again,
