Thanks for the info Dave! Will adding a DRAIN wire help, or does it have any relation to this issue?

Where do I get this shield wire? If I chose to use different wiring!!! How canI pop the old pins out of the connectors??? Where can I get new pins? I checked several local places for those pins, and nothing!

The shield is not a wire - What ZX is describing looks like an aluminum foil tube that surrounds the wires (the "shield") just like with your cable tv wire. I connected the shield in my cable to the drain pins in C1 & C3 (onstar)

Just get a cheap computer cable or shielded audio or microphone cable and cut off the ends -

here's one for $3 from radioshack

if you are careful and good at soldering you can cut the JP wires you inserted into C1 to about 1/8" and just solder on to them. As I said - IF you are good at soldering; you'll need a surgeon's touch to do this. Otherwise best to remove the pins first.
