Cool Noise that sounds like a bad bearing

My 2004 Suburban has developed a noise that sounds like a bearing going bad when running between 15mph and 60mph. We had the front end aligned a month ago and they told me my hub assembly needed to be replaced. I replaced hub assembly but noise still there. We had the transmission serviced week before last and that shop thought it might be the differential. I dropped the pan and everything looked good. No metal in the oil and bearings looked good. Could the U-Joints cause this type of sound? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Maybe it is the bearing on the other side.

If you’re referring to the hub assembly bearing what is the best way to check it? When I had it up off the ground I spun both wheels but there wasn’t much difference. Neither one was grinding. To be honest I’m not sure I needed to replace the first one.

Thanks for the reply,

Put the old one on the other side. You can jack the truck up and support it with jack stands under the control arm and diff. Then drive it in 4wd and listen to the hub bearings with a stethoscope.

I should have stated it is a 2004 Suburban 2wd.

Thanks
