Ok then If that's the case then I mist be having an oil leak somewhere cause it's at 40 when the truck is nice and warm and at idle. But under aceleration it actually drops!!!! To about 15 to 20 I was looking at the valve cover gasket on the driver side and noticed a build up of oil on it, so I'm wondering if the gasket has gone bad. On the passenger valve cover gasket it is virtually clean, no oil just dirt

I think the problem would not be in the valve cover. I don’t think there is any pressure at the valve cover just oil splashing up. if you have a oil drop it could be the oil pump or oil pick-up. When is the last time you changed oil and filter. what kind of oil filter do you use. not sure but a bad or failed oil filter might cause problems also.

stp is ok but not that great IMO. I like to use ac/delco, wix, bosh, and I have never used napa gold but poeple have said good things about them. The better filter will not cost much more. I have got ac delco filters at walmart before, there only $3 bucks. Not sure why the oil drop. maybe someone on here can give you a better place to look.
