Default Oil pressure

Oil light / stop engine came on this morning. When I started the engine again oil gauge went up then slowly started to drop again to zero. I added a quart of oil and seems ok, but oil pressure seems to be lower than before all this happened ( 20 to 40 psi, 20 being at idle) what should be the normal psi reading. Help
Thanks Don Iggy

If the "Oil Pressure Low Stop Engine" light comes on, stop the vehicle as soon as safely possible; do not operate it until the cause of the low oil pressure has been corrected. I encourage you to have your vehicle serviced at your GM dealer as soon as possible.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any additional questions.
