Final word was that they are not concerned about the performance of the metal ones, in general.They replaced the broken one with the new style, rubber with brass. The others "should be fine". I'm okay with that but I will be keeping an eye on them.

Nope!

Gonna get a stem cover in metal. polished/brushed will match better than chrome

 

get the chrome one which would probably be easier to find and scotch brite it to a brushed look......
