P0894 Code 2007 Suburban 2500 hard shifting & overheating
Hey guys I've got a 2007 Suburban 2500, with about 100,000 mi on it. Recently the transmission started getting hot, shifting hard, and throwing a P0894 along with the 0700. It also initially threw a code for the shift solenoid, I don't remember the code number. I changed the fluid and filter since I didn't know the history, as well as both shift solenoids inside the trans pan. It still gets hot during highway driving, and when the fluid hits about the 240 mark it drops out of 4th gear into 3rd, and the 0894 code pops up. If I clear it on the fly, it shifts back into 4th for awhile, then eventually throws the code again and drops into 3rd. Above 60mph the temp also rises quickly, hitting 265 then throwing the overheat warning. Once that 0894 code pops up, it starts hard shifting until it cools down again. I have very little experience with automatic transmissions, though I do have a lift and all the necessary tools to change out the whole trans if need be. Any advice here is appreciated, I'm thinking maybe the torque converter? Thanks!

Man, it could be so many things. Have a friend that the rear end was going out and while it didn't make noise that he could hear, it was creating drag and cooking his trans. Took the output shaft housing to pop to finally figure it out.
Good luck in finding the problem.
