Can I paint the goofy antenna on the roof of my Tahoe or will it reduce the reception?

 

You can do what you want, it's your car.

 

Just don't use a metal based paint or it won't work.

I knew someone would say that. I almost didn't say "can I." I did throw in the ...or will it reduce reception[sm=icon_stickpoke.gif]

 

I've seen them painted in experiments and the damn thing sticks out like a sore thumb even worse, not to mention that the textured rubbery antenna surface is difficult to get the paint to stay adhered to.

Look for the OnStar and XM antennas to be integrated into the side mirror housing in the near future on all GM products, that’s were it’s located on the new C6 Corvette.
