Default Parasitic draw from Radio - 2004 Tahoe

I just got a brand new battery and it went dead within a week. Tested for a parasitic draw and found about 3.5 amps being drawn from the radio circuit. I unhooked the radio at the dash and this took it down to about 1.5 amps. Pulling the radio fuse brought it down to .5 amps. Any ideas on what could be causing the radio to draw all these amps, and what else on the circuit I should be looking for to find the remaining 1 amp draw?

You need a schematic that will show what all is on that circuit.

you'll need to get a diagram to see what's on the radio fuse, but I would guess anything audio related:

clocks
amplifiers (for Bose system)
rear seat control panel

could also be a short in the wiring.

Is it the factory radio or aftermarket? Some aftermarket radios will draw power after the ignition is turned off. You ignition switch could be the source as well.

I’ve got the same exact set of circumstances, just as you described here. Would love to know what it ended up being. Looks like your post is from a few years ago - I’m stumped.

Wow - even 0.5 amps is a large parasitic draw.

Did you disconnect the alternator and check for draw?
