my concerns would be with camshaft replacement...if the lobe was worn off...metal will be in the engine....if metal was found in the pan... it most likely circulated throughout the motor...the engine should be replaced as per service info in fca information system.
I am replacing a cam right now for this very situation. customer is informed and will take his chances.

Wouldn't the oil filter trap any such particles???? That's its job, right?

it won't get 100%..no filter is.
it flows alot of places before it gets back to the filter
if you drop the oil pan and wipe anyplace on the internals...you will pick up fine metal grit. Its carried in suspension everywhere.
i have no idea on the life after this repair. If you are ok with it...pull the trigger.

I decided against going to look at this one; was 2.5 hours away, the selling lot did/would not provide pictures too. Plus, buying from a business in Arizona means sales tax too, over 9%, plus a typical rip-off of $1000 for "documentation".

Yesterday we pulled the trigger on a 2011 Yukon XL Denali in showroom condition from a private owner who babied it; 73K miles to replace the 2005 Yukon XL Denali that had 235K.

I'll be selling the 2005 cheap if anyone is interested. Arizona.
