Default A-pillar Tweeters

I read in other posts that the tweeters are Delco 1" in the A-pillars on the Bose setup. In a non-bose setup, are the tweeters the same ones that come with the bose system? If not the Delco 1" in the non-bose, what are they?

Also, I read in one post that Dave said the rear speakers are not even Bose, but someone pointed out that they do have a Bose sticker when you remove them. So, are they Bose, if not, why do they have the sticker?

A-pillar tweeters are not licensed by Bose, not that it really makes a difference they are your average $5 mylar dome OEM tweeter and they get the job done.

The rear door full-range speakers in many of the early build 07 models had no Bose markings, later vehicles were equipped with rear door speakers that were marked "Bose", still kind of a non-issue since both full range speakers are identical, assembled in Mexico and have mediocre performance, these speakers are of little dynamic value, they are simply used as filler speakers to spread the sound.

Dave, thank you as usual for your input. The reason I am asking is someone gave me an entire set of Bose speakers out of their 07 Tahoe (minus the Bose amp and subwoofer). I have an 07 non-bose Tahoe and was wondering was it worth my time to replace my factory speakers with the Bose ones he gave me?

No, it really wouldn't be, it may even sound a bit worse in the form of less bass reponse.
Much of the improved sound quality in the Bose system is because of the Amp and Sub, the other speakers are average and the lower ohm ratings of the Bose speakers may be hard on your head units amplifier section.

I am also putting in an factory nav and an 4 channel amp. With that said, would it be worth my while?

If you're going that route then go with a set of good aftermarket speakers for sure.

Dave,
Can you please refresh my memory as to what size the speaker are with the factory bose system in the 07 tahoes?

Secondly, it sounds like you are 100% positive that replacing the factory "bose" speakers with an upgraded brand will improve the sounds quality and volume ouput using the existing amp? I think i might do this if that is case.

Has anyone removed the door panels yet. I havent on my tahoe. Anyone have any steps of the process. My Rams had a few screws and remove the door handle with a t40 hex an then lift up and it slid out of possition. Little help before I jump on this would be appreciated. Thanks.

Landon,
The question that you are asking is 180 degrees opposite what Sonny asked.

If you want to improve the sound quality and volume of the OEM Bose system my recomendation is to replace the door speakers with the JBL 6.5" GTO627 or GTO637 series 2ohm speakers, you may also want to replace the a-pillar tweeters with a nice silk dome style driver, I like the POLK db series.

Otherwise rip the Bose components out and start from scratch with JL Audio gear.
