Potential Owner: 93 Blazer/Tahoe Need Some Info!
Hows it going guys,
recently i sold my supra and i'm looking to aquire something a little more.. "Portable". I found a 93 Blazer (Tahoe) 2door 4x4 sport package with 192k miles hes asking $4500 OBO for the vehicle and it looks to be in good condition.
Before i take the plunge I decided to do some research on the transmissions/diffs/engines of this particular model year. If anyone that owns one of these could give some insight and information as to some things to expect that can go wrong or any weak points i should be concerned about are. If i read correctly the 4L60E transmission can withstand 360ft lbs of torque which should be plenty (if i leave it stock) for what i want to do. However i have heard rumors that these transmissions are known to self grenade.
I will be using the truck as a toy hauler (Jet skis/Small trailers) and some light trail driving/4x4.
Any info would be great!
Thanks,
Mike D.

With 192K on the odometer its likely the tranny has been rebuilt more than once. The can be rebuilt for less than $1000. There are always upgrades that can be made to the 4L60E or you could put a 700R and really make it more bullet proof when rebuld time comes. Good Luck

Tomorrow morning i will own it. Its shifting a little rough so im going to do a fluid flush and replace the ball joints. Do a 96 front end grill/light swap and get the interior fixed up. Once thats done its time for either a 4" or 6" lift and 33" Tires.
