Default Power running boards

My daughter has a 2011 Suburban LTZ and the passenger power retractable running board is only going about halfway up. It goes down just fine but only retracts about halfway. I have cleaned and inspected the hinges for debris and they appear OK. I have re cycled the boards with the doors to sequence them as well. It almost seems the motor senses that they are retracted and stops when they are only halfway. Anyone have any ideas? Dealership wants a small fortune to just replace everything (motor, brackets, hinges) $2100.00.

Default power board

2011 isn't too old, but I've seen salt/snow really affecting the life on these things.

if you push it into the 'full' way up, does that break it more?

could be a sensor?

Unfortunately, many people just lock them in the down position once they degrade, as the fix isn't cheap...
