power surging
ok i am having some trouble with my 2000 tahoe. 5.3 4wd. starting yesterday morning it became hard to start. once started it will usualy die unless i hold thoe rpms up. after truck has started and warmed up to the point were it isnt stalling out i norice that the radio kicks on and off along with the abs light and a couble kinda like the truck is turningoff and back on. and the last thing is the engine light isnt coming on at all.

removed and clean the intake throttle body, remove the air intake and open the throttle plate and if it is coated in black carbon that is causing the surging.

2000-2003 GMC Sierra, Yukon, Yukon XL
with 4.8L, 5.3L or 6.0L V8 Engine (VINs V, T, Z, N, U - RPOs LR4, LM7, L59, LQ9, LQ4) and Electronic Throttle Control
Condition:
Some owners may comment on an idle instability, low idle speed or rough idle.
Cause:
Condition may be caused by deposits in the throttle body bore.
Correction:
Clean throttle body bore and throttle valve plate of carbon using a shop rag and an appropriate cleaner. Refer to Engine Controls Repair Procedures - Throttle Body Cleaning Procedure. This procedure may be performed at any mileage necessary. Check to determine if the PCM calibration has been previously updated to one that includes the update for throttle body coking. For 2003 model year vehicles, look in the operating system portion of the calibration. For 2000-2002 model year vehicles, look in the engine portion of the calibration. If not, then update the PCM calibration to the latest calibration.

thanks for all the replys sorry it took me so long to get back to you all. I think i may have fixed the problems havnt occured any more. the stock tow package on the truck has the 7 prong receptacle. aparently i drug the back end on the ground a couple months back and broke the cover off the receptacle. then sunday night i backed in to a snow bank and packed the receptacle with snow wich melted and refroze into a block of ice making contact with all the prongs. i found this while at work and pulled the plug off the witning harnes and sealed the harnes end as best as i could. and all the problems just went away and the engine light is working again.
