Default Radio FADE - I'm a NOOB

I have the non-navagation radio with the rear DVD, MP3 player etc. I've look thru the manual and can't determine how to adjust the FADE or the balance for that matter.

Help me before my wife figures out I don't know JACK -- she probably already knows ;-)

The **** on the upper right should have a music note in the center. Press it to adjust things like fade, balance and individually adjust bass and treble outside of preset the equalizer settings.etc.
