Rear end howl after rebuild
Hello! First post
I have an 2005 suburban rear end 3.42.
Just had the rear end rebuilt, axle bearings, pinion bearing, seals, etc. with 12mth warranty. I was getting substantial grinding and howling noise between 45-60 before the the rebuild. Now everything is good and quite except I get a small howling noise between 50-60. It's not nearly as bad before the rebuild. The shop said most likely the ring and pinion gears have a little wear due to the bearings being bad causing the small howl. I can either live with the noise or replace the ring and pinion gears(not worth it imo). The shop swears everything is set and shimmied correctly and will double check for me. Does this sound normal or did shop shop make a mistake? Thanks

how much time is left on the warranty? if you have some time left see what happens, but that being said imo if the ring and pinion are trashed already they should have never put it back together like that.
