Default Rear hatch issues 2008 suburban

I have a 08 suburban that has an issue with the rear hatch, all buttons work and the hatch goes up and down just fine except when I try to open the hatch from the button located on the handle. When you press it it does nothing at all, no sounds or anything. What could this problem be? I can open the glass from the button by the license plate. Thanks in advance

A wire may have gotten cut, or the plug fell out, or even the small switch could have gone bad.

what did you find, if anything? I can't open my hatch at the handle either. 2007 Suburban. It opens from the button by the rear view mirror and by the remote, & the botton to close it does work.
