Default Remote Start Option -

So my dealer did a service bulletin update for the keyless remote entry. When doing this update, he enabled the remote start option for me. He said it should now work with the right remote. So I bought one from the parts guy for 75 bucks and kept it in the plastic, went out and learned the new remote. The locks and hatch worked fine, but the remote start did not. My guess is there is a module that is needed in addition to the Tec2 update. Any thoughts?

Thanks,

Matt

Did you press the lock doors button and then held the start button for a few seconds?
If you dont hit the lock door button first it will not start.

Yes, I tried to lock via the remote and also manually locked the doors from the inside.... I have used the remote start on a rental... I think there might be something missing..

Thanks

you HAVE to hit lock twice to get it to work, hit it once, and hit it again to hear the horn go, thne hold it for about 5 seconds.....this is the biggest mistake people make, hit the lock two times

Once on mine. Also that's what the unreadable instructions on the back of the remote say.

There is no way for the dealer to simply "unlock" the remote start feature unless they have a code that comes in the GM Accessory Remote Start Kit, the dealer has to call GM with the code and VIN, GM will then issue a single use VCI code that enables the remote start function.

You may want to ask the dealer what method they used to do this.

Thanks Dave. I thought this was the case or similar.
