Default RV Trailer weight for 2015 Tahoe

Good Evening,

Me and the wife are looking at getting an RV soon. No to sure on my limits as the specs are confusing. I have a 2015 Tahoe 4x4 LT w/Towing pkg. Max tow 8300lbs.

I have been looking at TT around 6000lbs give or take a few 100.

Thanks.

I'd try to keep it under 6000 lbs if I were you. Two things working against you - short wheelbase and low payload. The short wheelbase will cause less stability, so the longer your trailer, the more the tail will want to wag the dog.

And what/who will be in the Tahoe with you? Weight of you/family members/pets/gear have to be subtracted from your total payload rating.

The 8300-lb rating is a joke. I tow an 8600-lb trailer with my 2500 Suburban, and I'm right at my weight limits.

Around 600lbs in the vehicle.

Yea i have been looking at lengths of 28ft - 30ft. But where leaning towards the 28 footer.

What can i buy to make the drive as safe as possible?

They're not cheap, but the no-sway hitches like the Hensley Arrow would be best for a long trailer/short tow vehicle combination.
