New to the forum and probably an old topic but new for me; what is the real fix for this? Lights on but NO loss of power or engine idle.

could be many things but without symptoms and/or codes you wasted your time posting this

 

No symptoms other than lights on the dash. No loss of power, no shifting issues, what other symptoms are there?
I wil try and pull codes here in the next couple days.

 

noises, if its on all the time, what vehicle would be a great start. The most often case is damaged wiring or speed/abs sensor issues but theres many other causes and depends on the vehicle what issues are more common.

C0710 code

Throwing a steering position code - 89 instances.

Going after the steering position sensor.

 

Steering position sensor connection cleaned and agitated for connection cleaning, connection feels tight and we cleared the codes. Backed the car out of the garage and threw the same codes again......damn!

Gunna need some turkey and beer for this one!

yea more than likely the position sensor is junk, not hard to do but you have to remove the steering column to get to it. Not sure if it fits your year but theres a bulletin for putting a new pigtail and wedge on also. I usually do all 3 in one shot since its easiest with the column out. Make sure you have access to a scanner when you're done to make sure its calibrated.

I am having a similar issue on my 2012 Suburban. When you turn the steering wheel all the way left, no problem. BUT, then you turn the wheel all the way to the right it deactivates the Stability and Traction Control. Also shows code C0710.

I had the dealer perform the steering position control TSB with the dielectric grease and the shim, but that apparently didn't fix the issue.

Any ideas???

 

needs the sensor and/or pigtail, I haven't seen the bulletin fix one yet
