Hello, I am in need of recommendations for new shocks in my 1995 Tahoe LS. My rig is on pavement about 95% of the time and rough dirt roads only about 5% of the time. When I am on dirt roads I don't do any 4 by'ing. I would like to have a smooth ride either way. I have limited income so I can't afford the wear and tear of off roading.

I'd recommend checking out Monroe, Bilstein, and Kjoni.

 

I've been looking at the Bilstein 4600. I just hope that it's not too stiff as we have plenty of potholes to deal with in town as well.

 

You said limited income, so I would recommend Monroe or Gabriel. The others are over priced and I am not sure they are worth the extra money.

Hmmmm, Amazon is asking whether coil over or torsion bar. I don't see a coil spring on the shock so I'm assuming torsion bar. Can I just change the shocks without messing with the torsion bars?

 

You don't need to touch the torsion bars to change the shocks.
