The t-stat has no effect on how quickly it get hot. That depends on how long it takes for the engine to generate heat. You want it to be warm faster when you start going then have a remote starter installed. Anywhere from 10-20 min before you leave push the button to start it. It will either be warm when you get in or be warm soon after you start driving.

Ha, just my luck that mine is probably erring in the "+" not the "-" (flow).

Yes, a given engine, will develop a given rate of rise in temperature, at a given speed, given there are no external influences.
