Default RE: Speed volume control

I do alot of Highway driving and my volume definately changes with speed increases (when passing people) and decreases (when exiting hwy). I have mine set to High sensitivity and I always end up manually adjusting the volume with the steering wheel controls b/c it usually gets too loud when I get on the gas.It is kind of distracting when you havepassengers talking and the volume just raises when you hit the gas. Oh, well.......when you pay this much for a vehicle, you should get these sort of options to play with.

Default RE: Speed volume control

I went to the pdf file of the supplemental Navigation owners manual on MyGMLink and found the following on the speed compensated volume and also something called Bose AudioPilot. I should have stated earlier I have the NAV radio and I access the speed compensated volume option on the touchscreen under Radio. I pasted below what the NAV supplemental owners manual states on this subject. I'm still not convinced it's not working properly as I have trouble hearing the radio when I get on the highway and noise level increases.

Does anyone know anything about Bose AudoPilot? That seems to address speed compensated volume as well.

Thanks for all the input/feedback.
Automatic Volume Control or Bose
AudioPilot
®
>
Automatic Volume Control: With speed
compensated volume, your audio system adjusts
automatically to make up for road and wind
noise as you drive.
Set the volume at the desired level. Touch the
LOW, MEDIUM, or HIGH screen buttons.
Each higher setting allows for more compensation
at faster vehicle speeds. Then, as you drive,
speed compensated volume automatically
increases the volume, as necessary, to overcome
noise at any speed. The volume level should
always sound the same to you as you drive.
To turn speed compensated volume off, touch
the OFF screen button.

AudioPilot
®:
If the system has the Bose® sound
system, it includes Bose AudioPilot
® noise
compensation technology.
To use AudioPilot
®, press the > Automatic
Volume Control screen button to access the
AudioPilot
® menu, then press the ON screen
button. To turn it off, touch the OFF screen button.
When on, AudioPilot
® continuously adjusts the
audio system equalization, to compensate
for background noise, so that your music always
sounds the same at the set volume level.
This feature is most effective at lower volume
settings where background noise can affect
how well you hear the music being played
through your vehicle’s audio system. At higher
volume settings, where the music is much
louder than the background noise, there may
be little or no adjustments by AudioPilot
®.

The Bose AudioPilot sounds like what my 2002 TrailBlazer had and it didn't work worth a schitt.

I checked into the Bose AudioPilot as the owners manual talks about and it doesn't even exist. When you select the speed volume option it goes directly the buttons for off, low, med, high. I'm guessing this feature as well as the speed compensated volume was never really programmed into the whole nav/radio configuration as it claims. I'm kinda dissapointed as I really liked the feature when it worked in the rental car I had. Oh well.

I thought is was just my unit as there is no "AudioPilot" on or off as described in the manual. The speed compensated volume does not work either no matter where you set it. I do have the Bose nav radio and I do have the Bose upgraded speaker system also.

Yes, I'm convinced it doesn't work. I wonder if there will ever be a remedy to this? Perhaps not enough people even consider it all that worthwhile to even pursuit getting it fixed. My dealer has reprogrammed my radio several times and there is no improvement.

There was some discussion of the AudioPilot last year and I believe it only made it on the Denali and Escalade. Manuals were printed before decision was made apparently. You can probably find a more accurate description with a search.

As for volume increase with road noise and windows open, only certain gm vehicles, I think the escalade was one and the vette is another, have an onboard microphone for picking up ambient noise levels. I know that because I have see the replacement part microphones for sale on ebay, and they are only listed for certain vehicles.

Yep, my 2002 TrailBlazer had the microphone system and it didn't work at all. []
