Exclamation Steering Wheel Controls Question

Hey Guys,

Newbie to your Forum.

Just added a '07 Burb LTZ to the stable and a quick question. Getting ready to pull my steering wheel to change out the peeling POS spokes to burlwood finished ones and noticed the volume control icons behind the radio controls are not lit. Does anyone know if they are supposed to be? Only want to pull the wheel once! Don't need speculation, I already have that!

Thanks,

MORAV

I don't believe they are supposed to. I have an '08 LTZ and mine are not lit.

***UPDATE: I was wrong, they DO light up. Just never paid that much attention!

They are lit but, why would you be looking at them while driving? They are supposed to be pulled by your fingers, I have never tried looking at the while driving. lol Don't think it makes much difference lit vs not lit...

Interesting because on my 2007, the volume controls on the steering wheel were not lit.

Thank you all for the quick responses. Still up in the air now as to whether mine should be or not. So many changes and refinements in parts as the model evolved, and as I have an early build...

Perhaps mine aren't, as both are out, or perhaps there is a connection problem, and it's not a bulb issue.

As to why, I'm just **** about everything working as it should. And as, as said, I'm going to be pulling the wheel to change out the spokes, it's a good time to repair this if it's warranted.

Reading through this and other forums, it is a common problem as Suburbans and Tahoes get older. What are you replacing it with? I am probably going to replace mine too - just not sure with what yet.

Not sure why you're up in the air as several w/ 2007s said they're not lit. I know my wasn't and neither is my 2010.
